Amazing End to 2012

We left immediately following Christmas and headed to Asheville, NC. We stayed in a very cool historic house less then a mile from the heart of the city. We were able to walk around everyday and enjoy all this eclectic city had to offer! We also got to visit a couple of tourist type places. The first one was the National Gingerbread Competition.

Can you believe the view from that hotel? It really makes you take a second and think back on all we did in 2012 and how lucky we are to have each other. We also hung out at the house, teaching Grace new tricks and just enjoying each others company. We played lots of logic games, read books, and watched movies! It was so relaxing. PS - Mommy and Grace got a  nap every day!

We stopped by the Biltmore, which is always decorated for Christmas in December. It was beautiful. Photography was not allowed inside the house, but we did manage to get a couple pictures outside. Grace was amazing considering it was a 2 hour tour of the house. The workers LOVED her. They said she looked just like a Christmas Angel and we couldn't have agreed more!

Playing around the house. This week we actually made a list of all the words Grace knows in 2012. This means she will use the word withOUT prompting. Grace can repeat anything after you tell her to say it, but I wanted words she could use on her own. We are up to 32! Her words range from up/down to body parts to peoples names to Daddy's current favorite "stop it" haha.

Walking around downtown Asheville.

We went to this awesome toy store called OP Taylor's. Mimi and J-pa got Grace her very first game to play! It is for kids 18 months plus, but Grace got the concept of rolling the dice to get a card. The cards had cute age appropriate tasks like "touch your belly" or "say moo like a cow". It definitely makes me realize this kid needs some structured learning times in 2013, she is just so smart!

Best way to ring in the new year. Ok this was at 6:30pm. Grace only made it to 7 before she crashed, but Mommy and Daddy did stay up until 12! We actually went upstairs for the last 30 seconds of 2012 and stood over our sweet girl as she slept. By far she was the best thing about 2012, so excited for the next year!

My Child Grace,
Over the next year may you learn to be kind, to smile often and cry only when necessary, to share with others, to be independent while still needing the ones who love you, to love with all your heart, to have wonder for learning new things and to teach all these things to me. You are going to do great things small one. I can't wait to watch. All of our love.
xoxo
Mommy and Daddy
PS. First chance to actually touch snow (we saw it last year but she was too small to touch)
