2 weeks!

Grace is 2 weeks old today! We cannot believe how the time has flown. This was her original due date. I can not tell you how many times I said the date "October 25th" over the last 9 months. Of course now our date is October 11th - which we love just as much!

At the 2 week appointment today Grace is above her birth weight. She now weighs a HUGE 6 lbs, 11 oz. The doctor says she looks great, and we were very happy to hear that. Of course we already knew she was PERFECT!

Grace was having some trouble feeling photogenic, but we feel the crying pictures also represent a piece of the last week so we kept them! =)

Grace loves her paci! She does a great job of holding it in her mouth - except when she falls asleep... then the paci falls out, then she cries, and the whole process repeats itself about 20 minutes later. lol - It's a good thing she is so precious!

Daddy with his little girl. She just curls up on his chest and loves it there! =)
One funny story about Daddy this week - Daddy started back at Mills Park on Monday. One morning Grace cried at 3:30, Daddy jumped out of bed and was in the shower before Mommy could figure out what was going on. When Daddy came out of the shower - Mommy said "What are you doing?" Daddy said "I am going to work, the alarm went off" Mommy said "That alarm was your daughter - its 3:30, come back to bed! I guess we have had a little sleep deprivation. =) Happy 2 weeks Grace. We love you!

Day 11: Pumpkin Patch

Grace was 11 days old when we headed to Green Acres Farm in Cary, NC. We hung out in the pumpkin patch and took lots of pictures of Mimi, J-pa, Mommy, Daddy, and Grace!

Look what we found in the pumpkin patch! She even has enough hair to clip in a bow.
This tiny pumpkin is the same size as Grace!
Our sweet love! We can't imagine feeling more love for anyone. Every adorable thing she does (even grunting like a piglet) makes us smile and laugh. We are so lucky!
Family on the Knapp side. Uncle Taylor was at the pumpkin patch too, but he wondered off to find hot cider and missed ALL the photos! lol Thanks Daddy for taking such a great picture of Grace, Mommy, Mimi, and J-Pa.

Mimi and J-pa! Nothing like being loved on by your grandparents. She is one lucky girl! Of course we think they are pretty lucky too, having such a perfect grand baby and all!

J-Pa loves his granddaughter! They have matching blonde eyebrows and eyelashes! I hope Grace's stay light. It is so cute when the two of them are together!

We love this girl! The sun just put her right to sleep. It's amazing how she just melts into your arms like you are the only one in the world.

Grace is showing how tall she is! I can't believe that next year when we go back - she will be able to stand up on her own! I guess at 11 days its ok to need Daddy's help. hehe

Family Pictures

We took some family pictures this weekend while J-Pa was up. We came up with the ideas for shots that we liked, J-Pa worked with us to capture the shots, then I edited them in picasa. J-Pa is also going to edit them once he gets back to Atlanta. I'm sure his edits will be even better then these, but I wanted to get them to you! We just LOVE this sweet girl!

These were taken outside in our backyard.

These are in our guestroom! We love the quilt on that bed. We also made the white head board when we lived in Morganton. We found the piece of wood in the shed in our backyard and we fixed it up. =)

Our family feels so complete now that we have Grace Jacklyn. She is PERFECT!

One Week Old!

Grace is one week old today! Hard to believe it has been a week since I got the call to head to the hospital! She has been worth every moment - even the exhausting ones! We absolutely fall in love more and more each day. Here is Grace on Daddy's arm. I love how her back foot is up propped under her bottom! I also love how you can see her diaper, those leg holes are HUGE and this is a newborn outfit!
Mommy and Grace! She was so tired she would not open her eyes the whole time we were outside!

This is my favorite picture from the day! I love how innocent she is. Grace's Great-Grandmommy (J-pa's Mom) got this pink bear for Grace when she was still in Mommy's belly!

Doctor Visit and First Walk

Went to the doctors again today to check on Grace. Good news all the way around! She is up to 6 lbs 5 oz! (3 oz away from birth weight!) Her bilirubin level was down to 10 which is in the acceptable area and Mommy can start breast feeding again! We do not have to go back to the doctors until next Tuesday for her 2 week appointment so we are counting our blessings! Here is a picture of our pediatricians office: Cornerstone Pediatrics
This afternoon Mommy was feeling well enough to go on our first family walk! We made it maybe a tenth of a mile before Mommy was ready to turn around and go back home, but it was nice to get out in the fresh air!

First Bath

Grace got her first bath today! Needless to say we can add this to the list of things she does not care for. =) However it is nice to have her hair clean and make sure that any formula/breast milk she spits up has been completely washed out of her neck! It is hard to find this girls neck so we find that spit up likes to hang out there! hehe. Here is to one clean baby.... hoping to not have to do this again until next week! =)

And back to being a glow worm! =)

Doctor Visits and Day 4 pictures

On our way to our first doctor visit. This picture really shows how tiny Grace is in her car seat. You can see that we have had to put rolled blankets on either side of her to keep her wedged in! We also have to put a folded up blanket in front of her to keep her from sliding down!
Daddy and Mommy at the doctor appointment. Grace actually lost a bit of weight. She went from 6 lbs, 8 oz to 5 lbs, 14 oz! Not only that but she had not pooped for 24 hours and she was jaundice! Of course we were concerned. The doctor put Grace on an all formula diet for 24 hours so we could ensure she was getting 2 oz of food every 3 hours. She also instructed me to begin pumping so that all the breast milk could be saved and given to Grace once the weight was up...
As for the jaundice Grace came home with a biliblanket. It is a machine that produces a light. Grace has to sleep with the light directly on her skin. The light produces no heat so it is very safe. It is supposed to break down the dead blood cells in her skin to help the jaundice go away. Here is what it looks like.
Our little glow worm.
Luckily for us at the next appointment (24 hours later) all 3 areas were looking better! Grace was back up to 6 lb 2 oz! Her jaundice (called bilirubin) had gone done and she was pooping up a storm! We still have the light at home for her to use the next few days but she is back on breast milk with only using formula to supplement! Hopefully we will hear good news tomorrow at her next appointment!

We also got a chance to take some 4 day pictures! I chose on the best to share here. We are so blessed to have Grace. She is so expressive even at 4 days old. She loves being held and loved on and she makes it clear when she does not like something we are doing (this includes changing her diaper or putting new clothes on!) Here is our sweet angel!
The bonnet and booties in these pictures were actually worn by Gabe when he was a baby! He wore this outfit (with the little dress) to his baby christening. We wanted a few pictures with Grace wearing the same outfit as her daddy (of course Mommy thought it was even cuter when she was naked between the bonnet and booties! hehe)
Athens is still trying to figure out what this squirmy little thing is that we brought home. =)

The hat and blanket in these pictures were hand made by Grace's Aunt Suzie (Gabe's brother Chris's wife) She did such a great job on them we had to show them off!

Of course you have to have a picture of a little girl in a tutu!

These 2 were just us playing around at the end. I love all the wrinkles in her side! We couldn't believe how much she was moving on her belly! She kept kicking out her legs and moving herself forward! I bet we will have a crawler in no time! This could explain why the inside of my belly was SOOO sore during the end of my pregnancy! The girl has got some muscle! =)
